This weekend, Emily and I are indulging in a Amtrak Trip to Chicago (a great tradition). Since we are going to see White Christmas on stage, we have also indulged in another tradition of turning show tunes into knitting songs. Here are some of our efforts. And if you can't figure out what song we have edited..SHAME ON YOU...GO RENT THE MOVIE ASAP and see if you can figure it out.
Mother, Daughter
There were never such devoted knitters
Never had to have a yarn budget, no sir
Emily's here to keep my eye on Mom.
Caring, Sharing
Every little pattern that we are knitting
When a certain Brooklyn Tweed yarn arrived from Rome
I knitted the scarf , and Ems cried at home
All kinds of weather
We knit together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces
But in tight places
We knit and we purl as one...uh-huh
Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up no one one can
Lord help the mister
Who comes between us and our knitting
And Lord help the sister, who comes betwene me and my YARN
Daughter
Mother
Daughter don't come between me and my YARN
And though the following is a short song, it it also perfect and from the show!!!! Emily can be so brilliant, she must take after me!!!!
When you're troubled and you can't sleep
Just count your knitting instead of tinks
And you'll fall asleep counting your knitting
